Chiropractic appointment

Your first Chiropractic appointment

Visiting a new health practitioner can be a daunting experience, particularly if the form of treatment is new to you.  At King Street Chiropractic and Natural Health Centre you’ll be made to feel welcome in a safe and confidential environment.

Your first appointment will always include a comprehensive assessment to determine if chiropractic is suitable and what methods will form the best course of action.

Chiropractic appointment duration

The duration of your first appointment will last for 1 to 1 ½ hours. Your chiropractor will review your full medical history and discuss the reason for you seeking chiropractic care. It will be important to discuss lifestyle including your diet, working habits, pressures, stresses, and physical and social activities to gain a holistic approach to the next steps.

Things to be aware of

During the consultation, you may be asked to remove your clothing down to your undergarments (this is only necessary for examinations for specific conditions and you will be provided with a gown). You can keep your clothes on if you prefer. An appropriate physical examination of your musculoskeletal system will be required in order to determine where imbalances may lie, the points of physical discomfort and how they may manifest.

Following your first chiropractic appointment

Your chiropractor may recommend further tests, such as x-rays or blood screening if the initial examination is inconclusive. In this case, you will generally be referred to your GP to make further arrangements.

Your chiropractor’s findings and any course of treatment recommended will be explained to you in plain, simple English and all questions or concerns will be addressed during the first appointment.

If no further tests are required then treatment, if appropriate, may start in your first session.  Following the first chiropractic treatment, you may be recommended a series of exercises that you can carry out at home to cement the treatment you receive at the centre, along with aftercare or lifestyle guidance.
